Your account

To manage a Naps API key, you sign in to naps.sh with Google. Naps stores your account ID, name, and email for sign-in and account support. A Naps API key is separate from your Google sign-in and from the CLI's Search Console connection.

What the CLI sends

Reddit and SEO commands send your query and Naps API key over HTTPS to naps.sh. Naps forwards the query to its research services and their data providers. The API key is checked against a SHA-256 hash stored with your naps.sh account; the full key is shown only when you create it. We store a short prefix so you can identify and revoke an active key.

Usage and operations

We record daily Reddit and SEO usage against your account to enforce your allowance. For CLI requests, admins can see the command used, the number of units, the request outcome, and the provider-reported SEO cost. This account-level usage record does not contain search terms. The SEO service also records operational and research events, which can include queried keywords or domains, request outcomes, and provider costs. The site uses Cloudflare for hosting and PostHog for analytics. Avoid putting private information in research queries.

Google Search Console

The CLI opens Google's consent screen and requests read-only Search Console access. It stores the Google refresh token in a config file on your machine and sends Search Console requests directly to Google. The CLI does not send your Google token or Search Console data to Naps. You can disconnect with naps-cli search-console disconnect, which attempts to revoke the token and removes the local connection.

Twitter/X

If you use Twitter/X research, the CLI sends your query and your provider token directly to TwitterAPI.io or X, depending on the provider you select. Naps does not proxy these calls.

Your choices

You can replace or revoke a Naps key at naps.sh/cli. Account and daily usage records remain with the account while it is active. For account or data requests, email justin@naps.sh.
